DAMASCUS next month marks the fifth anniversary of a revolt after which Syria has plunged into one of the bloodiest wars in living memory in the history of the Middle East.

Bashar al-Assad, who became president of country after the death of his father in 2000, the conflict soon lost control of a part of the country, but recently has regained ground and his army has launched an offensive to cut access roads and supply the rebels from Turkey, with the critical coverage of the bombing of Russian aviation, which started in September.

During an interview amid tight security in Damascus to resume talks throughout the country and win the war.

-¿El Syrian government is willing to respect the ceasefire proposed Russia and the United States and the suspension of military operations?

‘of course . In addition we have announced that we are ready for it, but the matter does not depend solely on an ad. It depends on what you are going to do on the ground. Now, I think the concept ceasefire is not correct, because the ceasefire takes place between two armies and two countries faced. It would be better to use the concept of ceasing operations. It depends primarily on stopping the fire, but also other complementary factors that are more important, for example, prevent terrorists seize the suspension of operations to improve their positions. Forbid also depends on other countries, especially Turkey, to send more men and weapons or any kind of logistical support to terrorists.

His troops and around Aleppo, one of the bastions of opposition. When provide regain full control of this city?

‘Actually we are in the center of the city and much of the city is under government control. The question is no longer regain control of the city, the issue lies in blocking the roads between Turkey and terrorists. This is the aim of the battles in Aleppo now, and we have recently achieved, close the main roads. There is no complete closure, but does the relationship between Turkey and the much harder terrorists. It is for this reason that Turkey has been bombing the Kurds recently.

What will come after Aleppo? Is the Syrian army is ready to reach Raqqa, self-proclaimed capital of EI?

‘In principle, we’ll go everywhere, but we are now fighting in more than ten fronts in Syria. We are moving toward Raqqa, but we are still far from it. In principle, yes, we are going up to Raqqa, but we can not define exactly all the time.

-Russia has begun an intense campaign of aerial bombardment. Do you think that could have accomplished this without outside help think?

without a doubt, the Russian and Iranian support has been essential to our army achieved this breakthrough. But to say that we would not have been able to reach these achievements is a hypothetical question. I mean anyone can have a certain response. But surely we need this help, for one simple reason: because more than 80 countries with different media support to terrorists. Some directly with money, logistical support, weapons or fighters. And other countries offered political support in various international forums. Syria is a small country. He could fight, but ultimately, there is an unconditional support to those terrorists and it is obvious that in this situation is the need for international support.

How to respond if Turkey and Saudi Arabia meet their threats to send troops, under the guise of fighting EI?

As you said, that’s the excuse. But if it happens, we will treat them as we are trying to terrorists. We will defend our country. Such action constitutes aggression. They have no right to intervene in Syria, politically or militarily. It would be a violation of international law.

What is it that attracts a large number of foreign jihaditas to go to Syria?

Basically the support they receive. Saudi Arabia is the main financier of those terrorists. They put them on planes and send them to Turkey and then to Syria. The other factor of attraction lies in chaos, and chaos is a breeding ground for terrorists. The third factor is the ideology, because they belong to Al-Qaeda.

If the government imposes its control of the territory, will give you initiate a political process?

normal’m would be the formation of a government of national unity which gathers together all the political currents who wish to join. This government should prepare the conditions for the preparation of a new constitution, because if you want to talk about the future of Syria and discussion with the various parties, and discuss how to solve the internal problem, you should discuss the Constitution.

Where do you see yourself in ten years?

‘After ten years I have been able to save Syria, but this does not mean that follow was president then.

what can your government do to stop the flow of refugees has killed so many people drowning in the Mediterranean?

No depends solely on Syria, but also the rest of the world. First, Europe must lift the embargo on the Syrian people, because it really is not an embargo on the Syrian government, but against the Syrian people. Second, Turkey should stop sending terrorists to Syria. Third, as a government, we must fight the terrorists, no doubt, and we must improve the living conditions of citizens. I’m sure that most of them want to return to Syria.
