MADRID A judge of the Audiencia Nacional, the main Spanish criminal court opened an investigation against the armed Basque separatist organization ETA for” crimes against humanity “, according to a written decision released Friday.

The judge declared admissible the complaints filed by associations of victims of “crimes of murder or kidnapping that may have been committed by members of the terrorist organization ETA since October 1, 2004″ date of entry into force of that figure in the criminal code.
