A service agent bomb disposal of the Spanish Civil Guard was killed today in an explosion at a barracks facilities in Almeria in southern Spain.

Civil Guard sources told Efe that the explosion took place in a van of explosives experts in a garage located within the premises of the body in Almeria.

The agent, EQF, was fifty years old and had more than ten service in that specialty in Almeria.

The death of the agent was accidental and occurred, according to preliminary investigations, while manipulating a van in the garage, and not during the experiments or exercises, explained Interior Minister Jorge Fernandez Diaz .

Asked by reporters after attending a public ceremony the minister said he still had no details about the incident, but early indications point to the agent handling a van when an explosion occurred.
