Madrid, 25 February (EFE) .- The Minister of Transport of the Community of Madrid, Pedro Rollan, today announced that within a week will begin a “transition period” during which all disabled people can board buses to public transport any type of chair available on the market.
Rollán made the announcement after meeting with singer Madrid “rap” Juan Manuel Montilla, the Langui, which in recent days have staged protests over the impediment to people moving in motorized can address intercity buses chairs.
Montilla said that was achieved at the meeting “than expected” and the Minister has stated that at the end of this transition will be a law intended to make universal use of public transport by disabled people.
Rollán has stated that there is a planned meeting between the Committee on Transportation and the Committee on Institutions Representatives of People with Disabilities in the Community of Madrid (CERMI) to discuss this matter and that the Ministry asked urgent advancement of the meeting.
