Delay extradition of Polanski – The Universal

The court in Poland processing the extradition request a US director Roman Polanski , should put a break to the process due to the absence of some documents related to If sexual abuse to lower weighing on the filmmaker since the late setenta51.

According to official information, the documents in question were required to US authorities after the hearing May 22 last, when it was established that should arrive before 8 August of last year. However, so far that does not happen.

At this, the Polish court decided to extend until mid-September the deadline for reaching the requested material could be key to determining whether or not pursuing extradition.

Polanski, 81, is accused of having sex with a woman identified as Samantha Geimer, when she was only 13 and 44.

In 1977 the director “The Pianist” fact pleaded guilty and spent 42 days behind bars, before bail. A year later, and before the trial hearing to establish his sentence was fixed, he left the United States permanently.

Last December his lawyers sought a court in Los Angeles close the case, but it did not have a favorable response and that the extradition request is maintained.
