Madrid . The Spanish police arrested a woman suspected of recruiting children and adolescents of both sexes to be sent to areas controlled by the group Islamic State Syria , officials said.
The woman, a Spanish national, was arrested in the city of Arrecife, on the Canary island of Lanzarote, said in a statement the Ministry of Interior.
The suspect maintained contact with militants group Islamic Syria , including a facilitator who gave orders to recruit girls and arranging their travel to that country, the ministry said.
Girls and adolescents who came to Syria through suspicious ended sexually exploited, making domestic work and in hospitals, according to the statement. Few joined the Islamic State as combatants, according to the report.
Authorities did not specify how many people he recruited women, but said the police investigation since 2014 in a targeted operation by the National Court in Madrid.
