Born in Venezuela because his father was an exile of Franco and the Civil War. He studied law at the University of La Laguna in Tenerife. After graduating he moved to Madrid, where he continued his studies.
Zerolo was one of the best known activists of the LGBT movement (which brings together and represents lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) and was also from 2003 Councillor in the city of Madrid. In the last election it was in the regional lists of PSM as number 3 and was instrumental in the transition to withdraw the previous Madrid executive, led by Thomas Gomez .
