Freed Spanish journalists kidnapped in Syria – Deutsche Welle

The Spanish journalists Antonio Pampliega, Jose Manuel Lopez and Angel Sastre, kidnapped 10 months ago in Syria, were released today (05/07/2016) and are in Turkey in good health, as confirmed to dpa Spanish government sources , in office since December.

the Spanish journalists, who are now in Turkey, come to Spain tomorrow, specifically the Torrejón air base, near Madrid. The Spanish government sources noted that the release of the journalists was made possible by “the work of many public servants and collaboration of allied and friendly countries”, mainly in the finals from Turkey and Qatar.

the “number two” of the Spanish Executive interim, Soraya Saenz de Santamaria, contacted today by telephone with the three journalists covering the conflict in Syria. The disappearance of the three reporters working for various media, was published in July 2015. The three had entered Syria to cover the conflict afflicting the country since 2011.

Pampliega, 33, is well acquainted with the Middle East and has reported on Syria to Spanish newspapers as World or El País TV channels like BBC, CNN or Spanish Four, and international news agencies including dpa.

Lopez ( Leon, 1971), who was traveling with him, is a photographer who has worked in other places such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Haiti, Venezuela and published in media such as The New York Times , the Country or the Guardian .

Meanwhile, Sastre is a photojournalist for 35 years toured in recent years with his camera Middle East and Latin America.
