There are places where you do not understand that the siesta is sacred
Sorry, Spanish, we understand your feeling. But everything has its good side! Mariano Rajoy, Prime Minister of Spain, proposed ending the nap-a 3 hour break in the middle of the work-day, so that workers get home at 6pm instead of 8pm.
Rajoy announced his plan during a conference last weekend. The initiative aims to match the schedule of the Spanish nation with other European countries to increase productivity and avoid scheduling conflicts. “I will find a consensus to make sure that the work day ends at 6″.
In Spain, it is not unusual that the work day starts at 10 am. The day has a first shift until two in the afternoon, when a three-hour break is taken. After that, they return to work until 8 pm.
This dates back to when people worked in agriculture. Spain is a hot country and the midday break workers allowed them to avoid high temperatures. The continuation of break bothered to modern workers who can not go home for a nap and must deal with dead hours before returning to the office.
In 2013, one commission found that shorten the nap could improve the quality of life in Spain as well as increase the birth rate and reduce divorce. But other studies suggest that napping increases productivity and good working atmosphere
For now, we only have one consolation. After a day run like that, The output will be a moment that much sweeter !
