Tunisia’s President elect morning new head of government amidst controversy – Terra Chile

The Tunisian President Caid Essebsi Beyi, will announce tomorrow the new head of government after proposing to charge the outgoing Minister of Local Affairs, Yusef Chahed, his distant relative, which has raised controversy in political circles.

said today Efe sources presidency, the head of state will announce the new candidate for prime minister who will form a new government of national unity in the limit of a month, says the Constitution.

The designation comes with controversy since Essebsi proposed to the current Minister of Local Affairs because several opposition deputies left will point family ties between the two politicians.

Chahed is nephew of the son of the Tunisian president and some opposition leaders have denounced “nepotism return to political life” in Tunisia.

The opposition parties, joined in the Popular Front, met today with the country’s main union, UGTT, to adopt a common position on the proposal to appoint Chahed Prime Minister .

The Tunisian official sources acknowledged that there is “some uncertainty last minute” about whether support this candidate the nine political forces that signed the agreement “Pacto de Carthage” last 14 July to form a government of national unity, but stated that “the head of state can itself, under the Constitution, appoint the head of government.”

The candidate for the premiership is 41 years, is specialized in food safety issues and has collaborated with the University of Tokyo and Sao Paulo and international organizations agricultural engineer.

Yusef Chahed party is part Essebsi, Nida-Tunis since 2013 and participated in the preparations for the legislative and presidential elections in 2014.

Tunisia goes through a period of institutional crisis since parliament last Saturday not renew the confidence vote then Prime Minister Habib Essid, by an overwhelming majority.

The country also is in a state of emergency since the July 2015 bombing in Susa where thirty foreign tourists died.

Since then, the economic crisis has been worsening in Tunisia by the drop in tourism and the decline of investments.
