Luis Arguello, new auxiliary bishop of Valladolid – Infovaticana

Luis Javier Arguello was born on May 16, 1953 in Meneses de Campos (Palencia). is currently vicar general and moderator of the diocesan curia, since 2011; member of the college of consultors, since 2000; member of the Standing Committee of the Priests’ Council, since 2010; member of the Council of Economic Affairs and the Episcopal Council, since 2011; member of the Standing Committee of the Pastoral Council since 2013, and member of the Commission for the Permanent Diaconate since 2014.

About Ricardo Blazquez

Born in Villanueva del Campillo, Avila, on 13 April 1942. he studied at the seminars Minor and Mayor of Avila (1955-1967) and was ordained priest on February 18, 1967. he obtained a doctorate in theology from the Pontifical University Gregoriana in Rome in 1972 and studied at various German universities.

After completing his studies in Rome he returned to his home diocese of Avila, where he was between 1972 and 1976, secretary of Abulense Theological Institute. In 1974 he began teaching at the Pontifical University of Salamanca, where he was, until 1988, professor of the Faculty of Theology and Dean of the same Faculty between 1978 and 1981.

Pope John Paul II, the 8 April 1988 appointed him titular bishop of Germa in Galatia and auxiliary of Santiago de Compostela. He received episcopal consecration on 29 May of the same year of hands compostelano then Archbishop Antonio Maria Rouco Varela.

On 26 May 1992 he was promoted as Bishop of Palencia. In this diocese barely he had time to nothing because it was just three years that did not leave much impression. “Smart, shy and friendly, although not very popular” , told him some of his faithful in the palentina diocese.
