Europe, caught between hatred of Islam and terror threats … – El Colombiano

Europe discussed today between the rise of Islamophobic movements, focusing on the city of Dresden in Germany, and threats from Islamic extremists, materialized yesterday in the slaughter that occurred in the weekly Charlie Hebdo in Paris, France.

Although the attack in Paris apparently has no direct connection with the protests against Muslim immigration, tragedy, as a side effect, can help feed Islamophobic sentiments some groups in Europe.

Hasan Turk, analyst university and teaching international issues, suggests that both phenomena, Jihadism and xenophobia are two growing trends that feed and put endanger the social and political situation in the Middle East and Europe.

“Because of jihadism is increasingly strong xenophobia in Europe, because of xenophobia, jihadism is strengthened in the Old Continent. It’s a vicious circle, “Turk said.

” We are aware that the social climate in Germany has rarefied “said repeatedly holder German Interior Thomas de Maizière , in view of the ability to call for movements as “Pegida” and “Hooligans against Salafi” (Hogeaa).

And although the authorities claim that “there is no danger of Islamisation” of Germany also acknowledge that the phenomenon of xenophobia is increasing and is nourished by the fear of citizens, burdened by the crisis and believe that immigrants end up with their culture.

Figures study centers as Pew Research Center also lit alarms in Europe with studies have revealed that the number of Muslims grows twice as the rest of the world population and that by 2030 one in four inhabitants of the planet profess that religion.

An idea that seems to share, but from the fiction, the French writer Michel Houellebecq , who in his latest book raises the possible arrival of an Islamist government in France in 2022, supported by thousands of Muslims living in the country.

Many right-wing formations appeared in Europe in recent years trying to approach these xenophobic movements, complicating the political situation in a continent that feels target of radical Islamic terrorism for years.

Not surprisingly, cities like Madrid, London or Paris, have suffered some of the worst Jihadist attacks and the continent now lives in situation alert following the serious threats throwing radical Islamic State (EI).

This terrorist organization, Al Qaeda breakaway and currently controls vast areas of Syria and Iraq where he founded a caliphate, has caused the creation of a new international alliance, in which several countries in Europe

part, to stop their advance. But also, and while military combat positions, Western governments, especially those of the Union European, trying to establish joint strategies to prevent these jihadists, many born in the Old Continent, again for attacks in their countries of origin.

The European intelligence services believe that these returnees jihadists and others radicalize without leaving Europe alone can move and attack indiscriminately and cause maximum damage.
