A new Croatian government minister forced to resign over scandals – W Radio

Zagreb, Jan 28 (EFE) .- The Croatian War Veterans Minister, Mijo Crnoja, resigned today after spending just a week in office, punctuated by a series of scandals, including veteran privileges and physical attacks in the past against a neighbor.

During his few days at the head of the department, Crnoja outraged citizens to demand a “record of national traitors” and a “record of aggressors” against Croatia.

The local press found that Crnoja for years presented places of false and different residence in order to pay less tax, abused privileges which had the veteran, was in prison for a physical attack and for years abused a neighbor , single mother with a disabled child.

He was forced to resign after twenty hours of negotiations about his case between the new head of government, the independent Tihomir Oreskovic, and the two deputy prime ministers and coalition leaders in power, Tomislav Karamarko (HDZ), who opposed the dismissal, and Bozo Petrov (Most).

Analysts here today saw that this case has shown that the new Croatian government did not have ministers quality and Oreskovic, a former Canadian pharmaceutical executive of Croatian origin, not really controls the cabinet. EFE
