The International Day of Older Persons is an opportunity to highlight the important contribution of older people to society and to raise awareness of the issues and challenges of aging in today’s world.
The theme chosen for 2016 is "to Act against ageism". The goal is that we all be aware of the negative attitudes and discrimination on grounds of age, as well as the prejudice that it causes to older people. In the framework of the special day, at the end of last week the city of Zapala through the Secretary of Social Policies and Human Development, paid tribute to the elderly of our city with a picnic lunch, shared, dance, and a variety of recreational activities. The meeting took place in the Club Argentino.
