Aguascalientes, Ags., (OEM-INFORMEX) .- As part of the “World Day of Environmental Education”, the Municipal Government of Aguascalientes, through the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (SEMADESU) held firm collaboration agreements with Institutions of Secondary Education, Higher Media and Civil Society Organizations.
In leading this event, the mayor Juan Antonio Martin del Campo, noted that the establishment of this series of agreements allow joint efforts with the main social actors in this area and achieve a sustainable society.
“We are convinced that in order to live in a better Aguascalientes, is a priority to promote awareness, capacity building among the population to carry out actions aimed at conservation, protection and responsible use of natural resources and care of our environment use, “said the Mayor.
He explained that the Municipality of the Capital through dependencies it make, promotes various public policies aimed at caring for the environment, most notably the installation of wetland education for reuse of gray water institutions, the construction of a photovoltaic farm generating clean energy, focused on promoting biciescuela the use of this alternative transportation, among other activities.
In turn, David Angeles Castaneda, head of the SEMADESU said that the main objective of this initiative is to raise awareness among citizens about the importance of . environmental education, as well as preparation and training to achieve harmonization between human coexistence with nature
The official announced that the associations involved in the signing of this agreement are: Natura Mundi, an organization dedicated to studies on biodiversity; Aguascalientes Environmental Movement, an organization dedicated to promoting economic solidarity for the preservation of Arroyo de Cobos; and Environment College, an institution that has an innovative educational work through artistic and environmental education.
“Environmental education seeks to contribute to the construction of sustainable human development to ensure quality life of current generations and future, in addition to helping people and social groups develop a greater sensitivity and awareness of environmental issues that affect them groups, “he said.
He noted that the activities of Environmental Education, which conducts the City of Aguascalientes through environmental education centers as CEACC and the Center for Alternative Technologies in charge of SEMADESU, have strengthened educational processes promote awareness and capacity building among the population.
In this regard, he announced that soon will open a new Center for Environmental Education “Regional Centre for Education and Culture of Biodiversity” , which it will be located in City Industrial Park, which the Municipality of Aguascalientes will be at the forefront in this field to become the only one in the country to have three such centers in operation.
It is worth mentioning that the World Day of Environmental Education, was established on January 26, 1975 in the city of Belgrade in an international seminar where experts from over 70 countries participated in order to realize the fundamental principles of environmental education under the United Nations Environment Programme.
The event was also attended by the Trustee Attorney Rafael Aguilar Franco Ahmmed; Jehoshaphat Garcia Servin, Environmental Coordinator Conference Aguascalientes Institute of Technology (ITA); Alberto Isaac Reyes Silva, CEO of Natura Mundi, AC; Sergio Reyes Ruiz, director of the Environmental Movement of Aguascalientes, AC; Gabriela Ortiz Paola Gallardo, Environmental Education Coordinator of the School Environment; and the State Attorney PROESPA, Carlos Rodrigo Martin Clemente.
