The Spanish regional elections and its regional chambers … – Investing.com Spain

MADRID, May 23 – Spain celebrated on the Sunday municipal elections in more than 8,000 municipalities and autonomous while in 13 of the 17 communities in the country and in the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla, when there are only six months for next general election

The Popular Party, in power in the central executive, currently governs with an absolute majority in eight of the thirteen autonomous in contention. Madrid, Castilla-La Mancha, Cantabria, Valencia, Castilla y León, La Rioja, Murcia and the Balearic Islands. With coalitions or support, also it governs in Aragon and Extremadura.

In Asturias the PSOE governs without an absolute majority and relies on occasional support from other parties, as well as Union del Pueblo Navarro in the autonomous region. Canary Coalition meanwhile governing with the Socialists in the Canary Islands.

Basque Country and Galicia do not renew their regional parliaments this year, while last March voted Andalusia and Catalonia will the next September 27.

Then current situation of governments and regional chambers of the communities where elections were held this Sunday:

ARAGON

The Aragonese Cortes have a total of 67 seats. They give it an absolute majority 34 seats. Since the 2011 elections, the Popular Party (30 representatives) in Aragon governs with the support of the Aragonese Party (PAR) (7 seats). The PSOE won 22 seats four years ago and the Aragonese and United Left, four each

Asturias

With a total of 45 seats, an absolute majority in the regional Board would get 23 representatives. CANARY

The regional parliament has 60 seats, so give it an absolute majority 31 representatives. The Canary Islands government is in the hands of Canary Coalition (21 seats), in coalition with the Socialist Party (15 representatives) Party since 2011. In those elections, the PP won 21 seats and forming the remaining 3 New Canary Islands.

Cantabria

With a total of 39 seats in the regional parliament, give it an absolute majority of 20 representatives. The PP won those seats just four years ago, while the PSOE won 7 and the Regionalist Party of Cantabria the other 12

Castile and Leon

Castilla-La Mancha

Castile-La Mancha have reduced their number of seats to 33, from 49 in the last election. The absolute majority this time so give 17 representatives. Pure example of bipartisanship, the PP governs the community since 2011 with 25 seats compared to 24 won the PSOE

VALENCIA

With a total of 99 seats, 50 representatives are needed for an absolute majority in the Valencian Corts. In past elections, the PP won 55, compared to 33 the PSOE, IU 5 and 6 Compromís

MURCIA

The Regional Assembly has 45 seats, and an absolute majority is achieved with 23. The PP governs with its 33 representatives obtained in 2011, compared to 11 socialists and one of IU

NAVARRE

The Navarre Parliament comprise 50 representatives, and 26 give an absolute majority. It is one of the most fragmented in the country. The regional government is held by Union del Pueblo Navarro (UPN), which won 19 seats and govern in minority after breaking their coalition with the Socialists (9 representatives). NaBai won 9 seats and other BILDU 7, while the PP added 4 seats and the Left-Ezquerra three remaining coalition.

La Rioja
