Chaos transport in Brussels to strike officials – Terra Colombia

Much of transport in the capital of Belgium, Brussels, on Wednesday were paralyzed by a strike of public sector workers against government austerity measures.

The international railway lines as the Thalys and Eurostar, SNCB national railway system, bus and metro services were hit by the strike day scheduled until Wednesday night.

The great Brussels Nord station completely closed and trains from Brussels to Paris and London suffered severe alterations, although connecting London and Paris circulating normally. Fast trains Thalys to Amsterdam, Cologne and Paris were also affected.

“I had many meetings in Paris today,” complained Kerangal Nicolas, a French passenger. “I have to reprogram all right now, and will travel tomorrow.”

Brussels Airport authorities warned travelers them to come with time and seek alternative transport, since although the flights out smoothly, get to the airport was difficult.

Also postal workers, teachers, police and firefighters were called to the strike.
