Party mayor resigns Spanish government corruption – El Universal (Venezuela)

Alicante, Spain .- Corruption today claimed another head in the Popular Party (PP) Mariano Rajoy with the resignation of the mayor of the town of Alicante, in East of Spain, attributed by several involving alleged illegal development offenses.

Sonia Castedo, who today turns 44, announced his resignation through the social network Facebook, which stressed that “never” done “anything dishonest “DPA reported.

The hitherto mayor of Alicante is charged for alleged influence peddling, bribery and revealing secrets on two related development plans projected in this city of 330,000 cases at the Valencia.

In recent months, Castedo was pressured to leave office by the heads of the Popular Party (PP) in the region, they do not want people related to corruption in their lists ahead the municipal elections of May 2015.

Corruption is a major concern of the main Spanish political parties at the gates of an election year in which general elections were also held in November.
