The club, featured as a “leader” for its social work in a forum in Japan – Terra Mexico

The vice president of FC Barcelona, Jordi Cardoner, presented today the social work that develops this club globally in a forum held in Tokyo, where the Catalan club was presented as a “world reference” in that field.

Cardoner, head of social area of the club, explained the role played by the Foundation FB Barcelona during a round table within the Asahi World Forum, an international forum organized this week in Tokyo by the newspaper Asahi, one of the main rotary of japan.

The club was ranked as “number one in the world” for its sporting successes and as a “global benchmark” in their social work on the part of the moderator of the round table, the well-known sports journalist japanese Kosuke Inagaki.

During his speech, the vice-president of the Catalan club stressed that it is characterized by having “heart” and “sensitivity” towards the social issues, besides for their star football known on a global level.

“football is a very powerful tool to achieve social well-being, and we want to be an engine of this sensitivity,” said Cardoner, who noted that the FC Barcelona Foundation has projects in 50 countries involving over 700,000 children.

The vice-president mentioned concrete examples, as their schools football, the project developed together with the Bill Gates Foundation to try to eradicate the polio virus or the computers of disabled people to various disciplines that are part of the club.

Cardoner, however, pointed out that the Foundation is “on a knife edge and has the most projects are the chances”, so he called to the participation of more companies and organizations to develop “joint projects of corporate responsibility.”

On the same line, the vice president of FC Barcelona is scheduled to meet Wednesday with pope Francis in the Vatican City to present a project of the fight against poverty, he said.

Prior to their participation in the event, the vice president met with the head of the study japanese architecture Nikken Sekkei, Tadao Kamei, and other executives of the firm, in charge of the design and construction of the New Camp Nou.

Cardoner began his agenda in Japan last Thursday, with a visit to the peña fc barcelona tokyo FC Barcelona Japan, and met with some of its 261 members.
