President of the Canarian Government, Paulino Rivero, has stated that the additional costs of insularity and remoteness “absolutely” are compensated in the Economic and Fiscal Regime and has advanced the presentation of a bill to improve economic part of the REF.
Rivero has made these statements after the author’s statements of the fiscal balances of the Ministry of Finance, Angel de la Fuente, who in an interview published in The Province and La Opinión de Tenerife, considers that Canary is overprotected by REF and Brussels must review.
The canary president has stated that Canary has some historical rights that were collected in 1972 in the REF law, which is intended to compensate insularity and remoteness Archipelago and added that the aim of his government is to improve the compensation.
It has therefore advance the introduction in Parliament of the Canary Islands for a bill to improve the economics of the REF, ranging from transport aid to the desalización water or aid for infrastructure.
Rivero has argued that these measures are far from being overvalued.
also said that you can not link an instrument like the REF with regional funding.
