Elcano detained sailors hid 127 kilos of … – Reuters

After stopping their Colombian bonds in New York, the Navy identified those involved to prevent further deliveries to other ports

MADRID, 6 Aug. (IRIN) –

The three sailors from the Navy training ship Juan Sebastian Elcano arrested for drug trafficking during the voyage hid 127 kilos of cocaine from the sails of the ship reserve, a place of difficult access and which few had access crew, including two of those involved, as reported by the Civil Guard said in a statement.

COLLABORATION WITH AMERICAN HSI

American service HSI (Homeland Security Investigations ) reported these arrests so the Security Service of the Navy Naval activated establishing a system of identification and control of the sailors involved to avoid repeated deliveries of drugs in the following scales in other ports, waiting to reach country.

On 12 July before arrival at the port of Marin, the training ship anchored in Bueu (Pontevedra) at that level agents of the Guardia Civil, accompanied by components of Naval Security , next to the military judicial commission agreed to Navy ship were arresting three sailors involved (one from Ecuador and two Spanish) and by recording their personal habitat.

The detainees were transferred to Madrid military judicial authority decreeing joining the military prison in Alcalá-Meco. They are charged with the crimes of drug trafficking, crime committed by military commission using for ships or military units.

Investigations conducts Civil Guard with HSI, and with the invaluable support of the Navy continued and allowed the location of an undetermined amount of drug in the vessel. He held the record of the same on 2 August for the Civil Guard personnel and a total of 127 kg of cocaine hidden counted in the sails of the ship reserves.

Two Agents Guard Civil traveled to New York to coordinate all investigations with the U.S. HSI. Research continues to detail all the facts. The proceedings remain secret.
