L’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona), 5 oct (EFE) .- National Council of Unio today decided “unanimously” to let the “free test” of militants vote on the independence of Catalonia in consultation sovereigntist Nov. 9 and has agreed to vote a ‘yes’ resounding and radical “to the question of statehood.
The party led Josep Antoni Duran Lleida held an extraordinary National Consell to position on the independence in consultation sovereigntist November 9, which allows to combine different sensitivities within the Christian Democrats and based on the confederal model they advocate.
UDC general secretary, Ramón Espadaler, reported in press conference that the National Consell has unanimously agreed to release the militants left their “own discretion” orientation vote on the independence of Catalonia, in a meeting in which this training has reaffirmed their “unequivocal commitment and intact “query.
So, the 350 directors who make up the National Council for UDC, have agreed to vote a ‘yes’ emphatic and radical” to the first question (Catalonia Want a State ?), while militants can freely decide on the second referendum question Nov. 9 (Do you want this state to be independent?).
Based on the defense of a confederal model that recognizes Catalonia “political” subject, as reflected in the statutes of UDC, Espadaler recalled that positions within Unio on how to move towards this confederal state range from those who believe can only be achieved by voting ‘yes-no’ in the office, another by a “profound” reform of the Constitution, while a third sector considers that “the inability view” state, the “only way out” is independence.
After a discussion that has lasted more than three hours, made from the “rigor” and “respect” to the different voices, the Consell Nacional has decided that the way to converge these three positions within UDC is left in the hands of militants orientation of their vote on the independence of Catalonia.
“Unio expired, there has been no winners or losers, because it unites the desire for social and national cohesion, and move towards full sovereignty” assured the Secretary General and refuting suggestions that the second question of the request may cause tensions within the formation.
Espadaler, who appeared at the press conference with President of the Consell Nacional, Josep Maria Pelegri, has justified the “‘radical resounding yes’” of that State UDC as a way to “overcome” the current autonomous state which lead to the “reconstruction” of Catalonia, and in defense of self-government after the “recentralization” PP government.
A decision agreed today not “made from the comfort” added Espadaler, but from the “commitment to the founding values” party and “full cohesion.”
Regarding the informational announcement of the Government on the challenge central to the sovereigntist consultation Executive, Espadaler sees “logic” that if the Constitutional suspended as a precautionary measure they report to citizens.
