The Justice Minister Rafael Catala, said today that the division between the Catalans tax would not be an obstacle to a possible lawsuit for 9-N, recalling the “authority and responsibility” with the state attorney general and the chief prosecutor of Catalonia.
Catala has reacted well after the Prosecutor of the High Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) has shown its division today before filing a complaint against the president of the Generalitat Artur Mas, at a special meeting forced by a group of prosecutors reluctant to it, which ended without agreement.
Speaking to the media during the day commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Senior Civil Administrators State, Catala explained that the board of tax of Catalonia has a “consultative status but is not decisive” to set the final position on the filing of the complaint.
So, he recalled that the Organic Statute of the Public Prosecution allows issues to consult with the boards, but also “allow the exercise of authority and responsibility rests with the Chief Prosecutor of Catalonia and the attorney general of the state.”
Asked to the probability that eventually the complaint against members of the Government of Catalonia is presented, Catala has listed a number of facts “that any citizen has been identified” for 9-N.
Among them, has cited the website that the Government has used to support consultation, transfer of pubic local counts and voter scrutiny, and the provision of means for a press conference.
