The mystery of the usual cuts of light in a small Spanish village was resolved today: the Police found their direct relationship with a series of illicit crops of marijuana, for the cultivation of which was used a large amount of electricity.
The agents dismantled ten plantations and seized more than 1,600 plants that were ready to be harvested and distributed in Spain and in France.
In total, eight people were arrested. As explained by the Police in a press release, power outages were due to the “high” consumption “refrigeration equipment and lighting,” which is used to grow the plants in several homes in Sant Miquel de Fluvià, a Catalan town of 800 inhabitants.
The business was controlled, mostly, by the same family, which exerted “strong pressure” on its neighbors to avoid to declare against her, according to Police. The group had purchased property nearby to your house to grow the plants. In some cases, they were protected by “keepers” and dogs.
