The trial for the part 3 of the Gürtel case in Valencia, on alleged irregularities in hiring Fitur between 2005 and 2009 is resumed Thursday with two days dedicated to previous questions, and runs until December, the month in which the parties are scheduled to present their findings on 11 and 18, on Christmas Eve. In total, 38 sessions are planned, one in reserve.
This is the new schedule for this cause, which started last March 31 with preliminary issues in the Superior Court of the Region Valencia (TSJCV), after more than four years of schooling. In this conference, the lawyers of the accused requested an adjournment, among other reasons, because there were some other documentation had been available to the UDEF and the prosecution, but not theirs. The view had to be suspended until June to avoid annulments and guarantee the rights of defense.
The new schedule has the date of the hearing Thursday –the 11 and 12 will be devoted to issues previas- -. The statements of the accused, witnesses and experts will begin on June 19 and end on December 10 –se has left the last day of reservation –
In this procedure there are 13 people charged. The exconselleras of Tourism Milagrosa Martinez Novelda –also mayor and former president of the Corts– and Angelica Such (was declared on July 17); the former chief of staff of the Valencian Agency of Tourism (AVT), Rafael Betoret; the former head of the Markets area and Communication AVT, Isaac Vidal; Alvaro Perez, Pablo Crespo, Colin Smith and Francisco Correa –considerados alleged ringleaders of the trama–; Jorge Piggy, head of Promotion and Ana Grau agency, coordinator of the AVT fairs; Juan Bover, Head of Service of the Generalitat tourism infrastructure; Isabel Jordan (exadministradora companies in the plot); and Monica Magariños (former employee of such entities).
The trial is being held for crimes of corruption, misappropriation, unjust enrichment, bribery, influence peddling, deceit and infidelity in the custody of documents.
