The Spanish government’s request to the Constitutional Court “the declaration of invalidity of certain resolutions adopted by the Plenary of the Parliament of Catalonia”.

The resolutions referred to in the Government are five, one concerning the “legal protection and guarantees” of the referendum and other four on the “constituent process” of the Catalan Republic that the independence forces aspire to create.

As reported by Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría, the Executive will be a incident of execution of a sentence like the one presented a few months ago against another resolution, which called for starting the procedures for the disconnection with Spain.

The Government’s arguments again seem to be the same as then: the Catalan chamber disobeys the sentences prior to the Constitutional Court in which it is pointed out that there is no parliamentary debate as possible on matters that exceed the powers granted to autonomous institutions in the Magna Carta.

The vice-president justified the Government’s decision to go back to the courts in that, although the Constitutional Court annulled the previous resolution independence, and requested the start of criminal proceedings against the president of the Catalan Parliament, the nationalists ‘turn repeatedly to the same thing”.

Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría referred directly to the president, the Parliament of Catalonia, Carme Forcadel, to whom he urged “to refrain from taking any action for implementation of the contested decisions”.

Both the pro-independence Catalan as some political parties favorable to the recognition of the right to decide to have rejected on multiple occasions during the past few weeks the strategy of the Government of conservative Mariano Rajoy to discuss the territorial conflict with Catalonia.

In the opinion of these sectors, the actions of the central Government does not do more than to delve into the fractures and mitigate the options that both parties will reach some kind of understanding.
