During his visit Poltorak plans to meet with secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, secretary of Defense Ashton Carter and hold bilateral meetings with colleagues from Bulgaria, Georgia, Poland, Portugal and Romania.

in December 2014, the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) revoked the status nonaligned country retaking the course of NATO membership.
Experts argue, however, that Ukraine could hardly join the Alliance in the next 20 years.
In addition, NATO does not support the countries that have territorial disputes, such as Ukraine which does not recognize the secession of Crimea and its subsequent unification to Russia, considering that is an “occupied territory”.
